"Pick A Pocket Mini Album Series Ustream Class 2-Nite! w/ a peep show!!

 Tonight I will be doing the 5th class in the series of the "Pick A Pocket" Mini Album Series!! I have really enjoyed sharing my new creations with all of those who have the opportunity to attend!! I am soooo excited about this one as well as the next one that will follow!!! I have a really cool and unique mini album page style I will be sharing with you! There will be a couple of different styled kits available for this 2 part class. One kit will be for BABY, Boy and Girl, which I have a couple pictures shown in the post below this one, and the other will be a retro vintage styled kit!  I will be showing the kitz in tonights class!! So please be on time!!
Over the next two classes I will be showing you the assembly of the pages, we will do some embellishing of the pages, as well as finishing it up with embellishing the front cover and the binding of the pages to make it into a mini album that you will cherish forever and always!!!

A U-Stream Class & A Couple of Lovely Kits!

For the past four weeks I have been sharing various mini album styles in my Ustream Class Series titled, "Pick A Pocket" Mini Album Series. I have really enjoyed sharing my new creations with all of those who have the opportunity to attend! As of last Friday's class I easily persuaded Barbara, who owns "Life On the Scrappy Side" Scrapbooking Store to join in on the fun by offering some of my most favorite tools and things to you with a very nice discount!! The only catch is... you must be logged into the class in order to take advantage of the very special discounts she will be offering!!

Blessings in Disguise...

I have been struggling most of the morning trying, once again, to pull my thoughts together so I can put into reality, or in this case, on paper what I imagine in my mind. I am trying to put together a recipe mini album that will hopefully prove more useful than the ones I have created in the past. I have in my possession a poem that I cross stitched onto aida cloth a very long time ago. Every time I start a new recipe book album I have to hunt that little piece of cloth all over the place! And, when I finally locate it, I put it, I think, where I will know exactly where to find it the next time I need it! LOL!!! I have come across it several times over the past month while looking for other treasures, but where is it now?! LOL!
Any way, I thought I would be clever and do a search on the internet to try and find the poem by using a sentence from it that I can partially remember. Instead, after a few failed attempts i did come across this beautiful poem by a lady whose days were in fact maybe more times than not just like the day I am having today!
   An article from the Washington Daily News, August 17, 1951 described her like this. 
Mrs. Way, she is best described as a woman who has never thrown away a thing.  From childhood days and grandparents, too, buttons and shoes, pictures and baskets, spinning wheels and ivory ear spoons--all of these and thousands of others adorn her walls, fill her shelves, even fill her life--so rich and warm, with human kindness, and all for you. A housewife, snakekiller, curator, trapper, dramatic actress, philosopher, and preserver of all the riches of mankind, inadequately describe the most fascinating person you can imagine. Her home is a real piece of art, filled with an amazing array of items, ranging all the way from a trillion buttons down to the finest china, and all is properly cared for, carefully labeled and displayed for the thousands of her eager visitors. Her feeling, humor, and grace when she reads poetry would put to shame some of the finest Broadway actors and actresses. Take a tip from me--get a hobby.  Find some vitamins to live with.  Hobbies are wonderful cures for all ills. In the Way home sits a plate by the register in which voluntary contributions are placed.  These contributions go to the Red Cross, to the Salvation Army, the Crippled Children's Fund, and to other worthwhile organizations.
So, in short, she was a well meaning, good hearted woman just like most of us are, but the poem she wrote that follows helps me relate to her even so much more. There was a list of some of her poems, but I want to share this one with you.

Kitchen Philosophy

I like to happy,
I like to be gay,
But how can I be that
In the kitchen all day?
I like to write letters,
I like to read a good book,
But how can I do it
When I'm just an old cook?
The pots and the pans
And the dishes, too,
Are always waiting
For the old cook to do.
There are times when this cook,
With a scowl and a frown,
Wishes for a kitchen
Like the cooks have in town.
But when I think
Of the flowers and trees
I can see from my window--
My heart is at ease.
For the cooks in town
Have to look out on walls
Or listen to autos
Screaming cat calls.
When thoughts upset me
And things go wrong,
I turn on the radio
To get music and song.
And my heart, like the heart
Of the wild savage beast
Is soothed, and contentment

So thanks, dear Lord,

Second Class in the "Pick A Pocket" Mini Album Series

This is the second in a series of classes over the next several weeks. I'll be sharing with you new ways to transform envelopes, and envelope styles of various sizes into wonderful, spacious, and useable, awesome mini albums. I will also be sharing various techniques and styles I use in the process of putting together my mini albums, such as making flowers, tags, various sorts of tips and tricks to make you a more efficient scrapper!! The class is at 6:00 pm EST tonight!!  I will have classes posted ahead of time on my ustream channel. Click the link on the right of this post.

Ustream Class! Mini Album Series begins Tonight!!!

My first in a series of  classes over the next several weeks. There will be a U-Stream Class this Saturday, Jan. 15th at 11:00 am EST

When putting this min together I set a challenge for myself to use unconventional papers and "stuff" to make a valentine mini album. The paper line is by "Melody Ross" from GCD Studios. I just luv her papers! It is the Homespun Chic collection.
I will be crafting a fast, easy, yet very lovely mini album for Valentine's Day this year using a pocket design that I used in my journal album last year!
I have moved the time up a little earlier to see if that works better for everyone. It will be 8:00 am on the West Coast. Hope that is not too early. Maybe everyone can give me some feed back for a better time for you. This class will be totally "free"! I will have a few kits available, but I am running behind on completing them, so they may not be able to get to you prior to the class :( Though a couple items will vary from kit to kit, you will receive all that you see in the pics below. And of course that is not the whole album nor all of the goodies!!! I will also have a cute "child's version" available as well.

On this past week of Christmas...

...the 13th through the 16th... I spent the week doing bits of cleaning and laundry, moving furniture for hard wood floors to be laid, working on my Christmas mini, and decorating the Christmas tree!

And today???... I have it all to do again! So! Here I go, here I go! Cleanin', decorating, and crafting!! So much to do and with only SEVEN days left!! I feel a little faint! Oh my!

On the ???? days of Christmas.....

Okay, Okay! I have missed a few days! So, I'll just give you the highlights okay?!
First, I accidentally left my camera behind along with my facial cleanser and body wash so no pics to share. Let's see... well this past weekend, the 10th, 11th, & 12th I spent the weekend out of town with my sweetheart for the first time in ????? After I found my way to the hotel after taking a very wrong turn, We went out to dinner with some really long time friends and so enjoyed their company :) We, of course did some Christmas shopping and we were very successful at that! We were in much dire need of some time just for us. I am so thankful we were able to do this at this time. Really, It was so very needed.  Okay... so yesterday, Monday, I spent the day and most of the night playing catch up! Catch up on laundry, cleaning, you tubing, (didn't get much of that done), moving furniture for todays task at hand... Hubby is having wood floors installed today and Wednesday in a couple rooms downstairs! What a mess! My dining room is packed with furniture from the living room and our 12 foot Christmas tree stands stuck in the corner of the foyer awaiting to be adorned!! So, the guys are downstairs making so much racket I can hardly think! lol! Our downstairs heating unit went out on us around 7:00 or so last night, so that poor fellow is out in the windy cold trying to get that working again! And this morning the city was flushing the water lines... at least evrything is going on and hopefully getting done in this one day!! Oh! and it snowed most of the day!! So pretty.
I have been trying to get a little Christmas mini album kit up on you tube, I might just do the picture thing! lol!! Okay! Well! I hope everyone is having as exciting a holiday season as we are here at the Lane house!!

On the Eighth day of Christmas... I am In Luuuvvv!!!!!!

I received a couple boxes in the mail today! One I had ordered some lovely Cmas papers from and the other a group of papers that Wai Wai was selling on YT which contained the gorgeously delicious Peppermint Twist by Brenda Walton!! I fell in luv!!  lol!! Sooo pretty, sweet, cute, you name it! Thanks tons Wai Wai! Meanwhile, in more serious news... I have followed my tail in circles most of the day trying to pull all together the "Scrap Your Christmas" a workshop done by Shimelle.com! and accomplished nothing so far!! LOL! I finally decided just to email her! LOL! Any whooo.... My sister Lynn sent me a link to a nice giveaway over at http://www.mccplg.blogspot.com run over there and check her out!
Okay, I'll probablly be back a li'l later after a shower and dinner to edit this post! Happy Scrappin' everybody!
